I. Samuel Edward METTS (c1800/a1860) married to
Elizabeth'Betsy' DAVIS(Wright)(c1813/a1850). Elizabeth was a widow of James WRIGHT. There is no substantiated evidence that Elizabeth was related to Jefferson DAVIS. Samuel is said to have been born in Germany, and becoming unable to live with a step-father, caught a boat to America.
Samuel METTS(69) is listed living with Jeremiah Courtney in Dade Co., MO in the 1860 Federal census. Son John (8) and daughter Eliza (18) also was there.
